Robert Trent Jones has created an instructional book on golf with a twist. Not once does he mention swing keys or thoughts, never does he discuss the flight of the golf ball or the strike, rather he tries to help golfers lower their scores by educating them as to the way a designer thinks when he is creating a hole. He identifies the different types of hazard used by the architect and explains the placement of each hazard in order to make the hole play in a certain fashion. He explains the manner in which the designer uses various optical illusions to fool the golfer into thinking things are more complex than they truly are. All in all this product explains how the truly great course designers try to control the thoughts of the player on each hole, and how the player can break out of the architect’s control and play each hole to their strengths. In addition to this it contains anecdotes too numerous to mention and photographs and sketches of both the concept and finished article of some of Trent Jones most impressive courses. Highly recommended.
