I randomly picked this up in a bookstore and started flicking through…after reading a few reviews of courses I’ve played, I agreed with so many that I bought it! The author clearly knows what makes a good, memorable course, and doesn’t pander to anyone, and I enjoy reading other people’s opinions on courses and contrasting them with my own. I particularly like his review of the K-Club, which describes it as “pretentious” - exactly the word I would use for this overpriced, overhyped, and, up until recently, absurdly expensive track. As well as ratings of all the well-known courses her in Ireland, there are hundreds of reviews of little-known courses that have certainly stoked my curiosity. A cracking little book both as a planning guide and an enthusiast’s read.

Hooked is a model for guides of it’s type. A carefully designed layout makes finding the info you need very easy and the refreshingly unstuffy text makes you want to play the courses that make the cut. Every course in Ireland is covered from the Great and The Good to the impossible to find gems that the other guides omit. The perfect gift for someone planning a golfing holiday in Ireland.

Fantastic find. Cuts through the hype put out by the golf clubs and talks to each course merits from an amateur¹s point of view. It’s very easy to use and find your way around, and the maps helped me plan my next golf trip, including courses I’d never heard of.

Excellent book and nicely illustrated.
I wanted to play some more courses in Ireland and this is the perfect guide.
It helped that I had played 4 or 5 courses already and agreed with the reviews here.
